Who doesn’t recall cherished childhood memories of piling into yellow school buses with your class and leaving school behind to go on a much-anticipated field trip? These days ‘off,’ as we thought of them back then, gave us an opportunity to explore cultural institutions, science in action and other real-life experiences. And unbeknownst to us at the time, in addition to the fun factor, these outings provided tremendous educational value.
