Spring in the air and baseball season is here! Did you know that there are grants and other funding programs to help support community baseball fields and equipment needs for children? Here are just a few…
Major League Baseball awards grants to non-profit organizations involved in the operation of youth baseball or softball programs or facilities. Money from these grants is intended for programming and facilities, not for daily operating expenses. These funds can be used to finance a new program, expand or improve an existing program, undertake a new collaborative effort, or obtain facilities or equipment necessary for youth baseball or softball programs.
If you need equipment for your ball team, then the Good Sports grant program is worth considering. Eligible organizations are those that serve economically disadvantaged children ages 3-18. Both schools and non-profit organizations are eligible.

Many MLB teams provide grants and other funding support through Foundations. For example, Cubs Care, a fund of the McCormick Foundation for the Chicago Cubs organization, has granted more than $22 million to Chicago area non-profit organizations since 1991. Contact your MLB home team to see if they offer grants to help your local ball team.
