In times of crisis and danger, first responders fearlessly rush to the scene to keep people safe and resolve the issue at hand. There are many grants available for first responders, including grants for police, firefighters, and emergency medical staff.

Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Programs
These grant programs, administered through the U.S. Department of Justice, offer support for a variety of law enforcement needs. More specifically, there are seven programs offered through COPS. The numbers are shocking. Over 10 million children are totally inactive and 33 million are not active to healthy standards. A former general surgeon stated that this could be the first generation of kids that will be less healthy and have a lower life expectancy than their parents. One important step to get kids playing is creating access to safe and fun playgrounds. However, money to pay for them does not always come easy. The grants below can help.

A municipality wants to add bike lanes to several stretches of local roadways. Local funding is limited so the decision makers want to explore possible grant opportunities. Finding grants that specifically fund bike lanes is the obvious place to start. However, there are several different ways to validate the need for bike lanes.
